Intramuros, which literally means “on the wall” (meaning walled city), situated on the banks of the Pasig River in the south. Reportedly, the stone wall along about 5 kms in the city was built to prevent the entry of Chinese’s residents to the area where live the people of Spain.

Since Intramuros was built in 1571, until the end of Spanish occupation in 1898, Intramuros known as Manila. In the city was later built schools, churches, and mansions. However, the war in 1945 between the United States, Japan and the Philippines has destroyed this city.
